STUDENT COUNCIL

PREFECT SYSTEM

For many prefects, this role is a chance to give something back to the school after the school has given so much to us over the years.

Our daily routine involves ensuring that the other students are in a friendly environment to work in as well as for socialising among their friends. We also have minor duties to perform such as corridor duties and supervising the vending machines during break and lunch.

We think that our main role in the school is to make the first years in our care feel at ease when faced with the prospect of entering a school of 700-plus students when most of them come from small country schools.

But while we take extra care of the first years in the school, we also feel like we offer a service to the rest of the student body. We know that sometimes arguements erupt between students and when they do we try to solve any that occur before they are brought to the attention of the schools boards.

But in the short time that we have been in term, we have found the time mostly pleasant and we hope that it continues along this line for the rest of the year.

STUDENT COUNCIL

To Top of Page

The student council has a member from every class in the school. We normally meet once a week to discuss any queries received from students. Our work is varied. On Thursday, 9th December 1999 a Concern Fast is organised. A food appeal is being undertaken for St Vincent de Paul. A non-uniform day was held and the proceeds go to various children's charities in India.
